Let'sMove Information

Introduction

We often see children who we know are capable of learning and performing well in class and at home, but they are just not quite able to demonstrate this potential in their work. Children may be able to offer the most wonderful ideas, although their work does not reflect this all the time.

We also see children who are keen to please and want to work and learn, but they constantly fidget, distracting themselves and others, and may often end up in trouble. Sometimes we work with a child who we sense will excel, but always seems disorganised and the last to follow instructions.

Unfortunately, we also see these same children move through school having less confidence in themselves and their abilities. Participation within class activities and other learning opportunities may often be compromised.

The Let’sMove programme has been developed by children’s Occupational Therapists, working closely with families and schools to assist with the children’s skills and development. The programme empowers families and educators to aid additional learning and support the needs of children within everyday, appropriate settings. Let’sMove offers a unique opportunity to integrate activities that have a therapeutic benefit into environments where children learn and achieve.

Let'sMove is Supported by The Scottish Out of School Care Network

Let'sMove are delighted to have the support of The Scottish Out of School Care Network and we look forward to working with them to make the resource available to their members.

“The Scottish Out of School Care Network is the lead independent voice for school-aged childcare in Scotland. We promote good quality in Scotland's 800+ out of school care clubs providing over 25,000 places and believe that good quality childcare can benefit children, parents and the community. We support the right to play and the development of a playcare training infrastructure, and aim to support equal opportunities and work in partnership. We work with children, government and develop links with childcare organisations worldwide to share good practice.”
